A Large Multi-Tier Project: Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

It may be one of the largest pediatric clinical care providers in the country, but Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) is all about family. Their goal is to provide the best experience possible not only for the children they care for but also for the children’s families. This empathetic approach to medical care matters more now than ever. It is no wonder, then, that so many families bring their children to CHOA.

Such a program deserves a space for children to recover in comfort and security. That was the aim for CHOA’s new headquarters.

In collaboration with Hendrick and Bearden Partners, a corporate branding design firm, Parallax Digital produced the décor and signage for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s brand-new construction.

About the Project

This project was one of the largest that Parallax has produced. It included several interior décor products, as well as wayfinding and ADA signage. To ensure a smooth process, Parallax began with creating samples for Building 1 in March 2019 and Building 2 in May 2020. While the sampling process was lengthy, it helped in the long run. By the time we got to production, we knew exactly what to do, asking very few questions and having zero punch list items based on color or printing.

By the Numbers

  • Parallax printed over 70,000 square feet of material, including our proprietary eco-friendly Evergreen material up to 120” tall and Solyx Clear Luster with White ink.
  • Parallax fabricated and installed SEG Fabric Lightboxes, including a distinctive LED-backlit acrylic historical timeline bar over 30’ long.
  • Between the two buildings, Parallax created approximately 370 custom frames.
  • The sampling process was intensive, with our clients spending upwards of $30,000 on samples alone.
  • In the end, the entire project totaled $780,000.

Working in Collaboration

Parallax worked with both Bearden Partners and Hendrick Construction to complete this project.

By collaborating with Bearden Partners, all creative and design work was completed before Parallax’s involvement. Interior décor products included a unique array of wallcoverings, window films, and custom framed artwork.

In this project, working with Hendrick allowed Parallax to produce the necessary signage, including wayfinding painted acrylic and dimensional vinyl lettering and ADA signage.
